FAQs
Personal tax returns: common questions
Do I need to file if I was auto-assessed?
If the auto-assessment is correct and complete, accepting it is enough. If it is missing income or deductions, you must file a corrected return within 40 business days of the assessment.
When is the deadline?
For the 2026 filing season, non-provisional taxpayers had until 23 October 2026 and provisional taxpayers have until 22 January 2027.
I earn under R500 000 from one employer. Must I file?
Often not, if you have no other income and claim no extra deductions. We can check your situation in a few minutes.
